Wayne Wanta University of Florida

Wayne Wanta is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Journalism at the University of Florida.

Wanta is an author or co-author of three books, including a recently published text on sports writing. He has written more than 150 refereed journal articles and convention papers.

Member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (served as president in 2006-7), International Communication Association, World Association for Public Opinion Research.

Research interests include media effects, public opinion, sports news gatekeeping, visual communication and international news media.

Professional experience: Worked for eight years in the newspaper industry as a reporter, editor and page designer.
