Susan Alcoze Zavoina University of North Texas

Susan Zavoina-Alcoze is an Associate Professor and past Chair in the Mayborn School of Journalism at the University of North Texas, Denton, Texas. She is the co-author of Digital Photojournalism, and the co-editor of Sexual Rhetoric in the Media.

Zavoina-Alcoze is a past division head of the Visual Communication Division of AEJMC. She has been the recipient of grants from the Freedom Forum Foundation to document the effects of litter on areas of the Texas Coastline, and Friendship Ambassadors to document the delivery of medical supplies to the Children's Hospital in Bucharest, Romania. While in Romania, Zavoina-Alcoze lectured to journalism classes at the University of Sibiu and the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca. From 2000-2004, she taught Photography on Location and Web Design at Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland. Zavoina-Alcoze continues to serve as faculty adviser to the Mayborn's School of Journalism NPPA student chapter.
